I've always been a little sketchy about ordering anything medical over the internet, but I was over at a friends a couple weeks ago when her mail came, and noticed she'd gotten a package from 1800Contacts. I was pretty surprised since she's rather conservative and leery of anything she can't examine up close and personal. More surprised when she told me she'd been using them for years.

Peer pressure, good word of mouth and influence being what it is, I decided to give them a shot. What's better than sharing a good laugh? Not much I can think of. Nothing says loving like a cozy night, curled up on the couch together, mugs of hot cocoa in hand and Larry, Moe and Curly sending you into fits of laughter. OK, well maybe there are more romantic options, but truly, when was the last time you got together with friends or your significant other, or a contender for your affections, or family, just for a night of old time fun and hysterics? Shampoo and Bombs

Just as I'm about to get in the shower to wash up before my lunch date, I get a phone call. My mother informs me there's been a bomb threat downtown, so she needs a lift. My first thought is, ok, how fast do I need to make this shower - I really wanted to wash my hair and shave my legs - guess the legs can wait till later. A few minutes later it dawns on me, bomb threat. How impossibly desensitized have we become? How is it that bomb threat means less than cleanly shaven legs and washed hair?

After all the "shock and awe," what are we becoming as a collective conscience? In the months that followed 9-11, I remember turning on the tv set first thing every morning to make sure no more of my world had fallen down. It took even longer to stop looking up at every plane overhead willing it to stay on its lofty course and not crash into some building on my horizon. To this day, if a plane flies low over my island, it brings back all those feelings, but a bomb threat? Pshaw. We've had more than enough bomb, anthrax, etc. threats to make us numb.

OK, so now I've got 25 minutes before I need to pick her up. Will someone please pass the soap?

Self Indulgence

Write it off as a medical expense, under psychological rejuvenation, if you really need an excuse, but do it. Just do it.

Looking through past posts, it occurs to Kos that she's been shamefully estro-centric with the gift recommendations. Calgon, Take Me Away

Yesterday was one of those crazy insane days where everything I needed to get done seemed impossible to accomplish in the time I had, and then reality stepped in to throw me a few curve balls, and make it just a little more difficult. Needless to say, I got everything done, and even managed to break for lunch around 11pm.

That's when I found this picture. I blissed out on it for a few moments, then it occurred to me, I want, I need, and I deserve a massage, nay, I deserve the whole package: A glorious spa day to relax and completely bliss out. Excuse me while I take a moment to fantasize about it.... (just look at the pretty picture for a second)

It occurred to me, there was no truly need to simply fantasize, so I headed over to Spa Finder to find just the place to treat myself to a full spa day, entered my zip code and saw the list of spas near me and what they had to offer. I was not disappointed. At the top of their list was the best spa in my area, and they had a promotion going when you booked through Spafinder.com.
